The Bear Creek Restoration Initiative offers planning support and promotes a slough of events happening in the Bear Creek Watershed! The Freshwater Trust - Riverwalk Park Tour

Join TFT for a field trip and tour of a river restoration site on Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 12 to 2 p.m.

The guided tour will leave from North Mountain Park in Ashland at noon. You'll take a short walk from the parking lot down to a streamside revegetation project along Bear Creek in Riverwalk Park.

You'll see native plants in action: reducing erosion, providing shade for fish, and creating a stronger, more resilient landscape.

Tour takes place rain or shine. Please wear closed-toe shoes.

The Freshwater Trust - Ashland Pond Park Tour

The guided tour will leave from the end of Glendower Street in Ashland at 10:00. You'll take a short walk to a streamside revegetation project along Ashland and Bear Creeks.

You'll see native plants in action: reducing erosion, providing shade for fish, and creating a stronger, more resilient landscape.

Tour takes place rain or shine. Please wear closed-toe shoes.

Bear Creek Restoration

Wednesday, January 25th @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Public Lands Store 293 Rossanley Drive, Medford, OR

John Speece, RRWC Project Manager, and Joey Howard, P.E. Principal, Cascade Stream Solutions, LLC, will present on a planned restoration project on Bear Creek in Talent, Oregon. They will discuss the Rogue River Watershed Council, the Bear Creek River Mile 19.0 project objectives, the design process, and outreach strategies. They will be available for a question and answer session after the presentation.

Willow Staking: Coleman Creek and
Bear Creek

Saturday, January 28th @ 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

In collaboration with M&M Services and Rogue Valley Council of Governments, Jackson County Parks is excited to announce the first willow cutting and staking event of 2023. The willow cutting and staking event is on Saturday, January 28, from 9am - 12pm. There will be a variety of activities including trimming branches, cutting stakes to size, digging holes, pounding the stakes into the ground, and trash pick up. The event is best suited for participants 8 and up. We ask that adults do not just drop off kids, but also stay and participate as well.

Muckers or hip waders are recommended, but not required. If you have personal supplies such as pruners, loppers, rubber mallet, bucket, digging bar, gloves etc. please bring them.

We will be meeting at the end of the cul-de-sac of Northridge Terrace where it accesses the Greenway, (mile 17 on the Greenway) and walking south to Coleman Creek. Northridge Terrace is located near 3737 S Pacific Hwy, then go to the to the end of the street.



After the Fire: Plant Regeneration
in the Bear Creek Watershed

Please join us for an in-person presentation by Jason Clark, of Siskiyou BioSurvey LLC who will share recent findings regarding the Bear Creek Corridor Post-Almeda Fire Vegetation Assessment. Attendees will learn about what species are recovering, areas where assistance may be needed, and thoughts on managing vegetation for habitat improvement and fire resiliency. The intended audience for this presentation is the general public as well as professionals interested in vegetation management in the Bear Creek riparian area.

This is a Rogue Riverkeeper event in collaboration with Bear Creek Restoration Initiative.

Come join your community on Earth Day for an important creek clean-up event! Sign Up here - we need you!

This is a Stop Oregon Litter and Vandalism (SOLVE)-sponsored stream clean-up event. SOLVE is a non-profit organization and this clean-up initiative is part of their Adopt-A-River Program. Additionally, the event is part of the Bear Creek Stewardship Day effort, a series of clean-up events along Bear Creek in the cities of Ashland, Talent, Phoenix, Medford and Central Point.
